ā§Carnath Road House

Afternoon

Look ‘ere right, I ain’t no fancy writer, I’m a warrior through and through. These past days have been a whirlwind, what with those cursed cultists on our tail. I might’ve skipped a few journal entries in the chaos, but I’ll do my best to recount it all for you.

We had to double up on the night watches to keep those cultists at bay, but we managed to reach the Carnath Road House without any major hiccups. Upstairs, there were rooms for drivers and such to catch some shut-eye before they gotta turn around and go on back with more supplies and workers. Downstairs, the wagons were being unloaded under the watchful eye of a half-orc named Bog Luck. Quite the name, ain’t it?

Kalama and I decided to pass the time with a card game just outside the warehouse door while T-Bone and Demdo checked out Bog Luck’s room. We were the lookouts since I’m not exactly the sneaky type. What, with my armor, you’d have to be deaf not to hear me coming. It’s not like I can tiptoe around like those rogues in their fancy boots. But hey, someone’s gotta keep an eye out for trouble, right?

Before they could snoop around further, some man came up to me outta nowhere!  Accused me of murder, if ya can believe it! This ain’t the first time someone’s blamed me for offing that cultist from our last caravan. I don’t know if they truly think I’m a killer or if they’re just looking for a fight.

Our argument drew a crowd, with folks jeering and cheering as we traded blows. The man wouldn’t back down, and even the camp bosses seemed to find it all amusing. They stepped in before things got outta hand, and we beat a hasty retreat to our room to figure out our next move. Turns out, there were cultists in the room next door. Gotta stay on high alert at night, but it gave us a chance to gather a bit of intel.

Using our listening skills, we found out the warehouse had a storage room with lizardfolk that led to a tunnel. After some debate, we decided to try our luck picking the lock around 2 a.m. We left our room one by one to avoid suspicion, and thankfully, we all managed to sneak past without being spotted. The warehouse was empty, but the storage room had a few of them lizardfolk in it. We took ’em out, except for one who gave up. Lucky for us, Demdo knows Draconic, so he chatted with the lizardman to find out why he’s helping the cultists.

Turns out, he’s banned from hunting in the area but gets food, shelter, and some warm rocks in return. The tunnel he mentioned leads to ruins that take days to navigate. His legs are shorter, though, so who knows how long it’d take us? He pointed out the tunnel entrance, hidden behind some boxes. We knocked him out, keeping our promise not to kill him. A warrior’s strength is matched only by her word!
