ā§Castle Exploration

Dusk

After we took care of the rest of the lizardfolk and couldn’t find anything interesting in their rooms, we headed back out to the courtyard. We found a couple of doors on the long western wall and figured we’d check ’em out next.

Through the first, or southernmost, door, we could pots and pans clanging together. The more northern door sounded like dishes being stacked and clanged around. On the eastern side of the courtyard was another door, behind which were several giant liards stabled inside. Looked like they was meant to be some sort of mounts.

T-Bone, always the sneaky one, crept up to the north wall where there was a big doorway. He snuck in and caught sight of some kind of drake, which is like a smaller, less brainy cousin of a dragon.

For no particular reason, we picked the northern door on the west side of the courtyard. Kalama, Lhel and I strolled right in like we belonged there. Inside we found a mess hall where about a dozen regular cultists and 4 of the higher-ranked dragonclaws were quietly eating their meals.

We made our way to the serving area and each grabbed a plate, making sure not to sit together and just taking random empty seats. Once the cultists finished eating, they’d clear their plates and head over to the west side of the room where all sorts of valuables were spread out on tables. They’d start sorting through the loot or packing it into boxes. I tried to blend in and do the same, but one of the dragonclaws caught me red-handed. He demanded that I go with him, then turned to face Kalama and Lhel, demanding to know what section they were from. Kalama, always quick on her feet, spun a tale about being an inspector on orders from higher up, and managed to cover for Lhel and me.

The dragonclaw looked at Kalama, asking, “What do you need from our department? We need to keep the humans working.”

Kalama told him that the last shipment was late and items were missing. He provided her with an inventory list that says “C.Clouds” on it. When she asked out stowaways, he told her to talk to Omar, since he was in charge of the lizardfolk.

Meanwhile, Lhel was eyeing the valuables. He figured out that all the pieces here were pretty high value, probably adding up to about 300 platinum pieces altogether. 300 PLATINUM PIECES! I nearly keeled over just hearing that.

While all this was going down, Demdoo slipped away and snuck up the stairs at the back of the chapel. There, he stumbled upon piles of books that looked like they’d been taken from the valuables in the mess hall area. He ran into a dragonclaw keepin’ an eye on 3 cultists who were busy sorting through the books. Unfortunately, he didn’t get much of a look at anything else before the dragonclaw caught him and ordered him to scram
